Evolution of the structure and results of Primary Health Care in Brazil between 2008 and 2019

Abstract This paper describes the structure and results of Primary Health Care (PHC) in Brazil between 2008 2019. The medians following variables were calculated: PHC spending per inhabitant covered, coverage, rates mortality hospitalizations due to primary care sensitive conditions (PCSC), 5,565 Brazilian municipalities stratified according population size quintile Deprivation Index (IBP), median trend period was analyzed. There a 12% increase spending. coverage expanded, with 3,168 presenting 100% 2019, compared 2,632 2008. PCSC increased 0.2% decreased 44.9%, respectively. lower greater socioeconomic deprivation. bigger better municipalities, coverage. deprivation higher rates. study showed that evolution heterogeneous is associated both municipalities.
